DENTAL IMPLANTS in HARROW
A Modern Alternative to Traditional Dentures
Dental Implants for Tooth Replacement
Streatfield Dental Surgery offers an affordable, permanent solution to missing teeth, restoring your smile with dental implants.
A dental implant uses a cylindrical screw to replace the natural root of the missing tooth.
We attach false teeth (crowns, bridges and dentures) to this screw to give the most natural and secure tooth replacement.
Video: What are Dental Implants
DENTAL IMPLANTS REPLACE MISSING TEETH, SERVING AS ARTIFICIAL ROOTS.
- A dental implant is made of pure titanium or titanium alloy and is as long as most tooth roots.
- Titanium implants are biocompatible with bone and integrate fully within the jaw, creating an extremely strong bond.
- Dental implants can be used to replace one or several teeth. The first step is to book a consultation with our Implant Specialist.

IMPLANT VIABILITY DEPENDS ON BONE DENSITY AND SPACE
During an initial consultation, we take X-rays to determine whether we can place dental implants. This will show how much room there is between the remaining teeth and how much bone remains. Once we know this, we can make a treatment plan that works for you.
FUNCTIONAL AND COSMETIC BENEFITS OF DENTAL IMPLANTS
Our dental implants restore facial features, providing confidence in your smile.
Conventional dentures and bridges are often uncomfortable and insecure. Slippages and clicks can limit a person’s ability to speak and eat normally. Because of this, many people feel self-conscious when wearing dentures.
DENTAL IMPLANTS CAN IMPROVE:
- Your chewing and speaking functions.
- Your confidence. Implant teeth won’t move or loosen, and have same look and feel as your natural teeth.
- Your comfort. Implants eliminate irritation, pain and pressure on gums and natural teeth caused by dentures.
DENTAL IMPLANTS CAN PREVENT PROGRESSIVE BONE LOSS.
Your jawbone requires pressure from chewing to maintain its density. Within the first year of losing a tooth, the jawbone can lose up to 25% of its volume. This loss will continue for as long as there is no replacement tooth.

Frequently asked questions
Can dental implants help with loose dentures?
Yes, Dental Implants can also be used to secure loose dentures in your jaw.
Instead of fitting a crown to the top of the implant, we use a precision-made attachment which fits into the underside of the denture, securing the denture to the implant like an anchor.
In the lower jaw, this can be achieved with as few as two implants.
In some cases, you may be able to have a solid, permanent set of teeth attached to the dental implants. This is known as a full-arch bridge, which looks and feels very similar to a natural set of teeth.
Will I have pain during dental implant surgery?
As with all surgical treatments, we take every precaution to provide comfort during the dental implant procedure.
We use local anaesthetic during treatment so you won’t feel a thing.
We also supply painkillers to take while your implants heal.
In some cases, we may offer sedation to help you relax during the procedure.
What should I do before getting dental implants?
During consultation we screen your gums and bone for any infections or inflammation. A healthy mouth is more successful at receiving dental implants.
We will advise you of any precautions to take before you have the surgery.
Can dental implants be installed in a day?
We do not rush dental implant treatment at Streatfield Dental Surgery. Implants need to heal before the crown or bridge is attached, so the procedure requires at least two appointments. Waiting to load the implant ensures that it is fully integrated with the surrounding bone, lowering the risk of failure.
To help avoid days with visible gaps between your teeth, we may offer temporary crowns or other replacement tooth options. This will cover the gap while the implant integrates into the jawbone.
